For over 20 years, my wife and I owned a skincare business. Still, my buddies always joked I was the “King of Lotion.” So during lunch one day, I grabbed my spearfishing gear, jumped in the Tundra, and headed to Salt Creek to blow off steam underwater.

After an epic dive and landing my personal best Calico bass, I returned to work, fish in tow (hidden in a trash bag in the lunch fridge). As I washed the fish blood off my hands, something clicked: how bizarre it was to live between a world of skincare and spearfishing.
