Product Story
Why not protect that precious hat of yours with the GhostAmmo Rad Tail Hat Leash?
True story: the inspiration for this hat lanyard hit me like a lightning bolt one day while surfing Hanalei Bay.
We were out during a pumping swell on the North Shore of Oʻahu with my local friend, Paul. The waves were big — pushing 6 to 12 feet by Hawaiian standards (backs, not fronts).
I had already been researching ways to sturdily and safely attach a hat to a hooded rash guard. I love wearing a hat in the water — especially with a hooded rash guard — for ultimate sun protection. But I hadn’t found a setup I was fully happy with.
Most hat leashes made you look like a bear in a circus. Chin straps on water hats? Not for me (unless you’re actually wearing a helmet).
Then I saw this janitor paddling by on a SUP, wearing a normal-looking hat with a leash... wrapped around his neck.
“Eh braddah, you not worried about that thing around your neck when you fall?” I asked.
He laughed: “Yeah, I am — but it’s the only one I could find. I wish it didn’t go around my neck.”
Light bulb moment.
What if I created a floating hat leash, in a bright color, that could clip to any garment or attach to itself — with no neck loop needed?
Boom. No more hangman’s noose. And just like that, the GHOSTAMMO Rad Tail was born.
Wear it fishing, surfing, SUP'ing, kite surfing — any place there’s wind, water, or wipeouts. Hope you love it as much as I do. Thanks for reading!
